Istanbul Airport
Glass products were preferred in the facade and roof construction of the New Airport in Istanbul, which covers more than 200 thousand square meters.
Different glass products that provide solutions to effective energy saving, noise control, aesthetics, safety and security needs were used in the project, which will serve 200 million passengers annually when all phases are completed. Our company İkra Cam undertook certain parts of the glass facades and panels.
As İkra Cam, "Temperable Solar Low-E Glass", the new superior product of flat glass developed for the Istanbul New Airport project, was used in the facade glasses of the project.
The combination of Insulating Glass created with the new high-quality Temperable Solar Low-E Glass product preferred on the facades of the Istanbul New Airport project provides 51 percent light transmittance, enabling a transparent design with the optimum light transmittance and low reflectivity needed in the project.
In addition, the Insulating Glass combination preferred in the Istanbul New Airport project allows only 29 percent of the solar energy to enter in summer, saving both cooling costs and winter heating costs by reducing heat losses by 50 percent compared to ordinary double glazing. At the same time, it meets the need for safety with its temperable feature and reduces the risk of injury that may arise as a result of glass breakage, while it also provides noise control as well as security needs with laminated glass, which is preferred in the combination of interior and exterior glass.
Şişecam Temperable Solar Low-E Glass, which is preferred in the large surface rooflights of the project where solar control is most needed, allows only 26 percent of the solar energy to enter on the roof with its performance, saving on cooling costs with effective solar control, while reducing heat losses by 100 percent compared to ordinary double glazing. By reducing the heating costs by 50%, it also reduces heating costs in winter.
In addition, thanks to its 40 percent light transmittance, it makes it possible to watch the sky and clouds without giving up the bright interior effect.
Laminated glass, which is preferred in interior glass combinations, meets the need for security. Products that offer a comfortable living space save the energy consumed in the project, reduce carbon dioxide emissions and provide the opportunity to create an environmentally friendly building.
